Temporary Insanity

"Destruction is certain for those who say that evil is good and good
is evil; that dark is light and light is dark; that bitter is sweet
and sweet is bitter." - Isaiah 5:20 (NLT)

The doctrine of secular humanism emphasizes a person's capacity for
self-realization through reason, while rejecting religion and the
supernatural. This perspective advocates human rather than religious
values. If you're paying very close attention, this flawed philosophy
& violation of truth is painfully alive and thriving in the world
around us today.

When our moral fiber can be shredded by simply accepting a few seeds
of truth, a better understanding of "the true you" becomes visible.
Seeds of truth are justifications for doing exactly what you want to
do based on your own thinking, and not God's Word. And the problem I
have with seeds of truth is that they allow you to keep your will
intact, whereas the whole truth requires humility and surrender. The
classic case study is when Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good
and evil in the Garden of Eden. The serpent twisted what God said in
such a way that it wasn't "exactly" what God said, but sounded
enough like it that it garnered Eve's attention. Using the right
words or presenting what appears to be similar can catch you off guard,
if you do choose not to call it what it really is: SIN.

My definition of SIN: "a period of temporary insanity with eternal
consequences". The essence of SIN is living independently of God.
When the prophet Isaiah pronounced destruction upon the people of
Israel, it was because they had chosen to live like God did not exist.
Nowadays, that same SIN-drome shows up in ways like pornography,
deceitfulness, cohabitation, promiscuity & countless other forms of
self-destruction. As long as there is a demand for SIN, the enemy
will willingly supply it.

Yeast is put into bread to make it rise, and it takes only a little to
affect a whole batch of dough. Jesus used yeast as an example of how
a "small" amount of SIN can have a ripple affect. Beware of the
tendency to say, "How can this little wrong possibly affect anyone?"
(read Matthew 15:32-16:12) Supreme obedience costs more than regular
obedience in the same way that supreme gas costs more than regular gas.

There are people that have been incarcerated, incapacitated and even
invalidated for some of the very same SINS you and I once committed.
And only those who realize the depth of their SIN can appreciate the
complete forgiveness God offers. Let's give Glory to God for James
4:17: "Remember, it is SIN to know what you ought to do and then not
do it."

Final Thought: Why do we pay attention to sin only after it inconveniences us?

Edifying, Encouraging & Enlightening,
