"Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." - John 8:11b (NKJV)
"The Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus. They said
to Him that "the Law of Moses commanded us to stone such women." What
was Jesus' response? "He who is without sin among you, let him throw
a stone at her first." (John 8:7a) When they heard it, they began to
go out one by one. Jesus said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Did no
one condemn you?' She said, 'No one, Lord.' And Jesus said, 'Neither
do I condemn you. Go. From now on sin no more'" (John 8:3-11 NAS). Let
me draw your attention to 2 truths in this text:
(1) Those who are the most unqualified to condemn you, will! Stay
away from modern day Pharisees who love few things more than exposing
your sin and lifting themselves up by putting you down. Find your
friends among those who have been lifted by God's grace and know how
to extend it to others.
(2) The One most qualified to condemn you, won't! Stay close to
Father. By doing that you'll discover that you can recover more
quickly. Your scars are not permanent. Christ will meet you in your
dark places and heal the wounds of your past because His grace is
greater than your shame. Where sin abounds, His grace super-abounds!
There's no limit to the depth of shame He can see us through because
there's no limit to the grace He can supply. That does not give us a
license to sin at will, but what it does mean is that you and I have
been granted an awesome opportunity to walk in liberty.
If you're reading this and you're feeling the weight of your shameful
past and stubborn sinful ways, this message was sent to you in hopes
that you would completely surrender to Jesus. He's ready to forgive
you and set you free. But His invitation to freedom reads R.S.V.P.
